Compression socks are very important, helpful, beneficial and therapeutic for runners and athletes. So important that many of us are wearing them before or after activity for recovery as well. Of course we never want to run or race in compression socks before breaking them in first either.

One difficulty that many compression socks have is that they are so tight that they are difficult to slide on or off our legs, toes, and feet. Sometimes that frustration is so strong that we throw the (other) socks down and switch to others that are ankle length. Then we maybe need to wear calf sleeves and those are tight to slide on too if they shrink. (Socks shrink if we dry them too much too in the dryer.) But I noticed that with these socks, it is very easy to slide them on and slide or roll them off (both work very well). There’s no stop-and-start at the toes or the feet like with many compression socks (only adjusting it so the toes are in line on the front, that’s it). So that’s the first advantage.

Another advantage is that you can leave these socks on for a very long time without even noticing they are there. No achy feeling like some socks give us if you leave them on too long. For example, for the first time I tried these on, I slipped them on the night before a trail half-marathon (the Run for the Bridges half) and left them on all night. I noticed the therapeutic benefits quickly, my legs and calves were very relaxed and it helped me sleep better. The next morning, I raced in these socks (a rainy/muddy/wet/snowy experience) and they did very well. By the time I took the socks off for the first time, they had been on my legs for 17-18 hours. Time to wash them.

Washing the socks is easy, I just slip them in a laundry zipper bag and I prefer to air dry them. I haven’t dried them in the dryer yet. The mud washed off very easily.

I was impressed to learn that these were designed by nurses, who as you may know, are on their feet all day and on the run. My sister is a nurse. Nurses knew what they were doing in designing these, the socks are fantastic!

The compression is a little different that some socks, graduated between 20-30 mm Hg as you ascend the socks/legs. This seems to make them easier to put on and remove, and it keeps those pesky calves in relaxed mode. No calf cramps or pain while wearing these.

An exciting variety of colors and patterns are available. I prefer black. I love the shamrock socks though, those might be next for me.

One difficulty I have with many compression socks is that I get toe blisters from time to time. Not with these socks. In a full month of testing the Nabee socks, I didn’t get any blisters at all. No foot discomfort either. Seamless socks. So comfortable they make us want to relax. Top notch comfort. All effort is easier. All activity is easier wearing these.

What else can you do with these socks? You can plank, run (we covered that), walk, and do any other activity, nap, rest, recover, repeat.

As far as performance is concerned, I give the Nabee socks major credit for helping me in the Run for the Bridges half marathon last month in stabilizing my legs during a very difficult trail race under adverse conditions. And on other occasions, I have had much better runs, more relaxed due to the socks and have seen speed bursts happen because of it both outside and on the treadmill. Even during shorter races/runs like today’s 5k, it makes a difference to be wearing the highest quality durable compression socks. Sloshing through slushy snow is no problem for these socks. They do absorb moisture away from your feet so your feet don’t get cold like with some socks when they get wet.

I have experimented wearing them above and below running tights and either way they work well.

With some running compression socks, I’m more inclined to layer underneath to protect my feet. That’s not really necessary with Nabee. Less laundry to wash.

As someone who runs every day, I am frequently dealing with leg soreness and pain. These socks have prevented all that, protecting my legs all the way up to the knee. There does seem to be more energy or “bounce” in your legs wearing these. Fantastic socks! My legs tend to swell up sometimes too (especially calves) but that hasn’t happened either. It seems to give us better circulation in our legs so they can accomplish the goals we set forth. Very impressed with them.

Graduated compression socks like Nabee do prevent spider and varicose veins if you have that issue or are concerned about it.
